Alzheimer’s disease

A degenerative disease that affects the functions of the brain and nervous system, leading to memory loss, forgetfulness, and irrational behavior

ADD and ADHD

Attention deficit disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder

A class of disorders that affect a person’s ability to concentrate on specific tasks

AIDS

Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome

A disease in which the body is unable to fight to stay healthy

AMI

Acute myocardial infarction

Formal medical terminology to describe a heart attack, which is a type of heart failure

BMI

Body mass index

A calculation used to estimate body fat percentage and assess weight status

CAD or CHD

Coronary artery/heart disease

A condition caused by the obstruction of blood flow in the body

CBC

Complete blood count

A common blood test that measures different components of your blood, including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets

CF

Cystic fibrosis

An inheritable disease that causes a build-up of mucus in the body, leading to organ damage

CHF

Congestive heart failure

A condition in which the heart can no longer sufficiently pump blood throughout the body and oxygen-rich blood can no longer be supplied to the heart

CNS

Central nervous system

The control center of the body, consisting of the brain and spinal cord
